Cheer again Cyrus and Capt. Darling,
The victrix artillery is a nice kit, I even committed sacrilege and cut the heads of some metals and added them to the guard and horse guards crew with plastic heads! The spare artillery crew became some of the skirmishing voltiguers too with a few spare arms and heads
It's nice to see them arrayed, and especially finished! Since finishing these I even started touching up some of the Cuirassiers' horses, the first French unit I painted about 5-6 years back.
As for the basing... I had a heap of GW bases kicking around so I just started basing them that way (I was far too used to that type of base at the time and not fan of painting and constructing multi-base troops) and also because the Napoleonic British I had started slightly earlier I had already based the same way. After looking at a few rules sets to play them with (a WAB historical and another similar one which the name eludes me atm) I ended up getting into Black Powder big time

They've pretty much been used exclusively for BP, (the odd skirmish aside) in mostly large battles after joining one of the local clubs. I had originally done all units with 24 men on a 240mm frontage (12x 20mm wide and 2 ranks deep) but they other guys at the club had gone 200mm frontage so I did a restructure and was able to make about 3 extra units per side by adding in only a few extra command groups!
So long story short - Black Powder it is, most units are in 3-4 pieces/larger chunks of joined bases which are either on a magnetic base or glued onto card with PVA so they can be removed/arranged into other formations in game.
Must be my inner megalomaniac, but I do love the sight of a large army on the field
cheers,
Tas.
