my next Vietnam War game

Postby Dropbear » Thu Sep 13, 2012 8:50 am

I am planning my next Vietnam War campaign game (all in 28mm scale) and here is a sneak photo of the planning stage for the game:

I only finished making the three small huts and the sampans a day or so ago.

I have a large hill I am making for this game, and I need to paint up my civilian figures before I play the game.

I posted the AAR on my blog: http://shelldrakewargames.blogspot.com.au/2012/09/nam-project-aar-of-sorts.html

Rather than use the normal rules I have been for my campaign I played the new "Bolt Action" rules as a skirmish game, and was very happy with the results.

It depends on what you want in a set of rules.

I like them - they are easy to learn and play, and make for a quick game. I am hoping to play them with my mate this week and that will give me a better idea on how they play.

A lot of people on other forums are complaining about them, but I am of the opinion that if you don't like a particular rule then modify them to suit.

I did modify them to fit in with my interpretation of what a skirmish game is though.

I don't like point values in my games, so I am ignoring those and using historical TO&E for my units.

I would suggest giving the rules a go before passing judgement, unlike some people who condemned them before they were even printed.

Hopefully this has helped some :?

I think the same if you don't like a rule change it, never come across a perfect set of rules as yet, look forward to gaming with these rules.Got a phone call today to do a wargame at a fire station. Went along. Turned out it was a bloody hoax....soz about that i'm in a silly mood today.
