American War of Independence Campaign at Cancon???

Plush chairs, maps , light tables and sand trays, efficent WAAFs and crusty Admirals , curtained windows and scrambled phones...the place to talk about the annual big game and those sort of events...and all the recruiting and planning of such

Pz.
The French might be available to march again. Depends on whether I finish my Brits. or the heir to the throne has finished his Austrians. I have 8 btns of infantry along with Legion de Lausan and a gun battery. Add to that 2 btns of militia, a unit of rifles, light infantry and a unit of dragoons. Let me know what you need as things get closer.

Cheers

Glad to hear that your French may be available frosty. Who knows...yo may even have some time to roll a die or three in a few skirmish games. Maybe the temptation of throwing your frogs against the walls of Savannah will become too much.

With all this painting afoot we should have enough tin for the 400 plus americans which we will need on the weekend.

I had a chat about numbers with Prinz F over a coffee. What with Christo, Frosty Bluewillow and our friend the chef, there should have lots of Yank tin on the table for my jaegers to snipe at. Even the cardinal may want some militia...although me suspects royalist or should I say loyalist troops are more his style.

I think 8 player is a reasonable goal -which will make Cancon an AWI extravaganza.

Good stuff, Blue Willow. By my reckoning, we`ve got nine already, then, with Captn Ewald, Great White Zulu, Christo, the Chef and me plus your four.

Sounds great - and we haven`t really gone much beyond the forum yet to tell people its on. There are a few more folk who I can think of who might be interested.

I don`t know if Akula_au has been following this thread, but he might be interested as well.

Question for the learned, did the Foot Guards carry colours during the war? It appears that sources are divided on the issue. I was going to add colours for fact they look good, but could use the colour party for another unit.

Cheers

Couldn`t find anyone learned, so thought I`d jump in.

The Guards did not carry colours because no single Guards unit was despatched to America. From memory, each company of all three Footguards units contributed 16 men to form a contingent of about 1,000 who upon arrival in-Theatre were divided into two battalions, known as the 1st and 2nd Guards Composite Battalions.

If you`ve come across sources saying something different,it might relate to unofficial 'camp colours' or something. If so, I would have no idea of what they would look like.

My two Guards` units are colourless.

PS. I should mention that the problem with using the Guards Colour Party with another unit is that the Guards were the only units to have scarlett coloured flags (reversing the usual situation, the scarlett flag was the Kings Colour and the Union was the Regimental Colour). The Guards were also the only units to have company colours but because no complete companies were despatched to America, none of them went, either.

Thanks, that confirmed what I thought. Shame really units with their colours have a certain "finished" look about them, may just give them a mounted officer instead. I havent painted up the colours or the figures yet just doing some pre paint research.

Christo,

That infamous and scurillous Cardinal informed me that he believed you would pike out of the event. Please tell me that is not correct.
