American War of Independence Campaign at Cancon???

Plush chairs, maps , light tables and sand trays, efficent WAAFs and crusty Admirals , curtained windows and scrambled phones...the place to talk about the annual big game and those sort of events...and all the recruiting and planning of such

I am part way through Dillons but it is a project that is a low priority. More than happy if someone else picks up and runs or is that paints with this.

You`d enjoy playing the Chef of the Dillon Regt. Firstly, on our provisional numbers, a massive unit of 34 figures- but then it needs to be as it gets to launch its own diversionary attack all by itself along the riverbank where it comes under the fire of the British brig anchored in the river. Then, if it survives that, it gets to cross an abatis under murderous smallarms and cannon fire and then assault multiple lines of earthworks.

hearing all this I have gone off the idea...a little knowledge...though I would look forward to painting it for anybody who wants a very pretty unit..

Gentlemen, please place your bids for what you would like to commit for.At this stage GWZ has baggsed the American Army for Guilford Courthouse and I think Christo has volunteered for Hobkirks Hill. That will cover most of the American requirements for the weekend. I will need to cross reference, though, to see what will still be needed.

Captn Ewald, you might like to list what British units will be fielded between your good self and the Chef.

Some of the larger units look pretty eccentric because of their size , this being the result of the figure ratios applied. In painting some of the larger Con`tl units, for instance, one might be better to get a couple of 16 man units painted which will be a better size for normal use and then combine them for the Cancon weekend to form the 25 man units that are reqd.

It is possible that final ORBATS may vary slightly from those provided above, but not so much asto make any material difference.

I note that the armies for the smaller games look pretty dimunitive but the idea will be to play those games twice per day.

Thanks

Hello Prinz. I will speak to the Chef ths weekend and take stock of his tin. My units have been painted as 16 figure battalions but I know the Chefs are larger. I will purchase a few extras to round up if needed.

I anticipate that the chef and I will have enough british tin between us for each of the days (the orbats may be subject to change)...but are there any other redcats out there?

The French remain the problem and well we shall see what we can do.

This posting has attracted a lot of interest and a huge volume of traffic. I am sure the inner Cornwallis or Tarleton within them all is only waiting to emerge!

I have prepared orbats for Camden and Hobkirks Hill for discussion with the Prinz.

At 1st blush camden can be played by 3 players per side quite easily so finding slots for players should not prove a problem.

Front Rank are very nice with prompt delivery, they also do a very nice French range. The only thing they don't do is the cavalry,at a pinch you could use their SYW hussars.

Cheers
