American War of Independence Campaign at Cancon???

Plush chairs, maps , light tables and sand trays, efficent WAAFs and crusty Admirals , curtained windows and scrambled phones...the place to talk about the annual big game and those sort of events...and all the recruiting and planning of such

Some continentals would be nice as Great White is cornering the market on militia (similiar I agree)

Continental Regiments involved in Guildford and Camden were
1st & 2nd 5th Maryland Regts
Delaware Regt
4th & 5th Virginia Regts

May be of use for the uniform painter within us all

Hey!

I thought I was doing the entire American OB for Guildford from the list Prinz gave me! Seriously!

Cardinal, how long before you put it on eBay? I may buy it from you :)

I don't put good uniform books on eBay only overpriced crap like Osprey..you can get this one for marginally more than 1 osprey...it is rather a no brainer when looked at like that..

GWZ, no sweat- you can still do the whole USA Guilford Courthouse ORBAT if you like (extraordinarily good of you, I`d have to say) and Christo can still do those Continental regts because except for 2nd Maryland they were all at both Guilford Courthouse and Hobkirks Hill which we will be playing on the same day, I think!

That would also give us enough Cont`ls for the rest of the weekend!

Other Cont`l units in play ( and for whom the doubled up Delawares, 1st & 5th Md or 4th & 5th Va could substitute) are 2nd, 3rd & 4th Md; 1st,2nd & 3rd S.C., and from the north- Warner`s, Francis` Ma and Hale`s NH regts.

and for Christo, in case you`re interested, the provisional USA list for Hobkirks Hill (subject to final sorting out with Captn Ewald) is ;

Cont`ls - 1st Md, 5th Md,4th Va,5th Va& Delawares- all averaged out for playability at 16 figs (even tho` the Delawares were by then much smaller)

Militia- a single 'brigade' of 24 figs

Washingtons Dragoons- 9 figs

Artillery- one gun

staff- 3 generals

TOTAL-121 Men

I wouldn`t rush out and order figs until we settle on the ORBATS within the next week, but this could be a handy little force to put together. I note that the Delawares, Virginians and Marylanders were all regarded as crack troops.

Anyway, this list is put up as an indication only at this stage, we`ll put up the full lists within the next week.

on day 1- one battalion of the 71st x 20,

day2- two battalions of the 71st x 16,

day3- one battalion of the 71st x 16

The Prinz is romantic when he talks about rebel crack troops...but then again I am listening to the inner jaeger within us all.

The Prinz and I have been talking orbats and the huge number of frogs needed for savannah. I have some...well 120 or so and frosty has a few...any other takers????

The prinz has a point, units such as the 1Md were rated very highly especially later in the war at places like Cowpens, Hobkirks Hill and Eutaw Springs.

If you are getting more French the Frontrank range is good and if I had my time over would have bought them rather than OG. The OG figs are OK just a bit on the thin side.

OK Frosty the rebels did have crack troops of a sort...

I will not quibble. Will your frogs be available for savannah and if so how many do you have?

Surely the prospect of being a frog as against riff raff is tempting???

Are you suggesting that my British Foot Guards are rabble? As for the frogs will have to count them at home. For the frogs you will need some in red coats to represent the Irish regiments. This could be something for a sinister umpire to work with  .

This is from memory after a night of parent interviews so I am sure you will understand my state of mind. Dillon was one I think Walsh was the other. Have to look it up though.
