Australian Armour & Artillery Museum (Pic Heavy)

Post by Admin Fella » Tue Jun 07, 2016 9:59 pm

While up in Cairns for work I had the chance to make a quick visit to the Australian Armour and Artillery Museum. What a great place. An excellent range of vehicles and artillery pieces. I was amazed to learn that the entire collection and facility is privately owned. It is very well done with more to come including a PzI, II, II and IV, Panther, Tiger I, Nashorn, Cromwell, Firefly and more.

It was great to see vehicles such as the T54/55 beside a Centurion as it gave me a great appreciation of the differences in size and silhouette etc. Also seeing a Pak 38, Pak 40 and Pak 97/38 all lined up together.

What a great museum - certainly a lot more to see than the tank museum at Pucka. Fantastic to see the guns too. Thank you for sharing, and I hope that one day I can visit the museum myself.

Thanks Mathew some great pictures there, too many to pick out individual ones!

But saying that the universal carrier with ATG is cool and the STUG is a post was repo (F432 Body perhaps?).

They say they are getting a Tiger I that sounds interesting not many originals to spare...

I'll definitely have to add this to my to do list.
