CANCON 2015 - Anyone go? Any Feedback/Reports?
Hi All,
Anyone go to CANCON 2015? If so anything of interest to report? Any good pictures to share?
Cheers!

I was wondering the same, as it was very quiet in any of the forums I visit this year.
I never have a chance to go as I am always caught up firing 21 gun salutes, so I look forward to seeing the tables and games played.

I was there for the 8th year.
Continues to grow and develop. Cosplay, board games, Impetus, Chain of Command, Bolt Action, Infinity, GW games + more all there.
Saturday is the big day, shoulder to shoulder around lunch time. Very hot this year to which did not help.
I run a stall there and along with the familiar there is always new faces, which is a great sign.
I like the board games section, huge turn out and full of people playing each year, great addition and great to see a real resurgence of them.
No picks at hand, but will see if I can find a couple of links with some.
regards
Mathew

Thanks Mathew, hopefully your stall went well!
My friend in Sydney wanted to run a demo Lock n Load game but he couldn't get the time off to get there.
Looking forward to seeing some pictures!

Re: CANCON 2015 - Anyone go? Any Feedback/Reports?
I played Bolt Action on the Saturday and Sunday, which had a decrease in playing numbers of just under 40%. Warma-hordes was massive, and with their TO constantly using a PA for occasionally very trivial announcements, it was also a very dominating and extremely annoying presence to boot.
The major new elephant in the room was a number of large and very well supported demonstration games of various Too Fat Lardies' rules, with the Chain of Command and Sharp Practice games being particularly well supported. I'm definitely going to be playing far more CoC than Bolt Action from here on in, and the massive Russian Front game that was staged certainly looked superb.

I gave up playing Bolt Action over a year ago now, and my Friend introduced me to Chain of Command last year, and we both prefer Coc to BA.
I hope someone will post photos of the Russian Front game you mentioned, as I am intrigued.

Interesting comments so far...
No 200th year anniversary Waterloo game
No 150th year end of the ACW game
No 100th year anniversary ANZAC game
I thought at least one would have come up...I've suggested for Little Wars Adelaide they should be included though I admit WW I collections aren't too common but the others are...

You made a very good point. They're all pretty significant oversights.Captain Darling wrote:Interesting comments so far...

I am working on raising the necessary figures and scenery in order to stage a public participation game of Chain of Command based on the 75th anniversary of the Kokoda Trail campaign in 2017, but that's obviously a fair way down the track at this point in time.

I'm off again 12th of April. PM me if you have any specific photo requests.

Hey Oozeboss,
Kudos to you for such forward planning on your Kokoda project. It is good to see someone doing this and with the time you have to put it together Im sure it will look great!
