I´ve spent about 3 hours on the web trying to pin down 3 different Robert de veres..all around the same period, 1190´s to 1250´s. The sir name wasn´t common (one of william the conquerers mates) but apparently he was the second person to use the name, one being there pre 1066, but I can´t find any proof anywhere.

Back in the '70s when I was in senior High School my Head teacher of English was a Mr de Vere. A good man ,if a bit cranky at time
