Italian Royal Guard

Postby Gavo » Mon Oct 07, 2013 9:28 am

Hi, I am constructing a French/Italian Napoleonic force for the battle of Raab of 1809 and would like some help. The Royal Guard at Raab was divided up into the Grenadiers (Granatieri) and Carabiniers (Cacciatori) and one battalion of Velite Carabiniers (Cacciatori).

What I would like to know was the Carabiniers (Cacciatori) infantry similar to the French Light infantry or were they more like Line infantry.

The Italian Guard Carabiniers were almost exactly the same as the French Guard Carabiniers, except dressed in green, not blue.

An couple of excellent sites for Napoleonic Italian information are Histunif (This page is the most useful)and Napitalia.

Here's a picture of my Guard Carabiniers I made for our Wagram game using HaT 1/72nd plastic figures.

And the Velites Carabiniers, again using HaT 1/72nd figures
