20mm Continuation war/Lapland war Finns M39/44 AA/AT rifle

Post by HAMMO2440 » Mon Jan 05, 2009 7:55 pm

Hi all this was my other personal choice for a group build just to fill a specific gap in my 1944 Finnish army.

A Finnish L39/44 20mm anti aircraft/anti tank rifle on ground mount with 2 prone crew wearing summer uniform and German/Hungarian steel helmets. Info and good pictures can be found on the Jaeger Platoon website (pics are copyrighted so I have not copied them). http://www.jaegerplatoon.net

As per my last post any I would be interested in finding out if there are any takers.

Just to clarify, you are only wanting a L39/44 20mm anti aircraft/anti tank rifle?

If so, i will tidy up the subject title to make it easier to attract punters.

Also, what figures do you use for the Finns? Standard Germans? I know nothing about their uniforms, but have always had an interest in gaming this war.

Hi,yes indeed a model (in 20mm scale) of the Finnish M39/44 Anti Aircraft/Anti Tank rifle on a ground (anti tank) mount with 2 crew in 1944 garb.

Regarding my figures they are mainly based on WW1 & WW2 Germans with some WW2 Italians, and Hungarians along with plenty of the CP Finns range. These figures suit late war Finns in 20mm scale as all these helmets were worn along with a peaked cap (like the German M43 cap) or a un peaked cap. The uniform and ammo pouches were also very much like the German ones. Weapons were the Mosin Nagant rifle M31 SMG which looked a lot like the Soviet PPSH, pistols included the Luger and Mauser. The only real problem s are the anti tank rifles, hence my idea and the M36 Maching gun which looks like nothing else (possibly another idea for a group build).
Other machine guns used were the Soviet DP and the Maxim. So with a modeling saw, a sharp scalpel, modeling puty and plastic strip a realistic looking bunch of late war Finns can be created.
