Should be easy enough to do and it will open up more interest.
I am in total favor of that idea, as without you (as a business) the group builds can't happen, and every one should consider that as opposed to just a wish list, Battlescape is a business and needs to make $ (so that we can continue to get more group builds made :D )

Of course I agree. With a clean paintjob most of these figures will be usable for the Middle East and Greece (if you get them in helmets at least   ). There are no figures in tropical uniform that I know off that are wearing the woollen sweaters or just a sleeveless shirt (can anybody please tell me the correct name for this :P ). After a few days in action in the desert I reckon that most blokes wouldn't have looked very clean as well (especially with those pathetically small water rations of them that left little or nothing for washing and shaving.

But the reverse is also true, that many current 8th Army British types in tropical uniform are also usable as Aussie Pacific militia with a bit of work.

Therefore I would not make them too generic, as there are allready loads of Monty's 8th Army figure ranges out there from which you want to set these apart.

The links dont work Real.

To get photos from the AWM you have to "save as" and rename them. I did this and then posted them to photobucket to get the img link for the forum.

Like this then?

AWM Photo no. 026664 http://cas.awm.gov.au/photograph/026664

AWM Photo no. 013316 http://cas.awm.gov.au/photograph/013316

A shame you can't enlarge the images, because they could be much sharper.

Hehe, of course you are right. But I think that can be explained by the nature of the terrain. The coastal Milne Bay area was much more open than the dense jungles along the Kokoda track. Mark Johnston also states in the Osprey about the Aussies in WW2 that the 39th were forerunners in wearing the slouch hat in action, that they took up this habit a bit earlier than other units.

However, as I said before, I think these figures should wear helmets, if it is not possible to cast them in two different options.

I always thought they put the tin hats on in photos so they didn't get in trouble with an officer who saw it...

Just noticed that the guy in front in this picture is also wearing the Light Horse pattern leather leggings.

Seems they were more common then I thought.

Btw, are the preorders going as planned Mathew?

The weapons are being sculpted currently. Once done and cast up, they will be off to figure sculptor for rest. I should have some generic arty/mortar crew before that though.

Aside from that, project just has to wait in line. :)

Any word on what the range will contain? Did the wounded/stretcher bearers/trekking figures make it to the final set? They sure would add some flavour, but I realise they might not be the most commercially viable.

Really looking forward to these.

Hey All

Some time ago i had a few sample figures sent to me for potential Australian militia. I was thinking at the time they may be a little small for my tastes. Anyway, just to double check i thought i would post them here with some other brands for comparison. Let me know what you think? Are you happy with the size, proportions and style?????

If so, i would look to make a few adjustments to these maters so they may be cast and used as the dollies for a range.

Now i am not sure i would commit to some 30 figures as suggested here, but certainly enough to create RF Battalions with some variation.

Do you have any Eureka Miniatures 20mm figures to compare the size with? Regardless of that, they seem to fit in ok with other 20m figures, and they do look the part.
