Rapid Fire at Cumberland meet 8th June

Postby Phantom Agent » Mon Jun 09, 2008 4:50 pm

we had 2 battalions of LFD with a batt. of regular german paras V a Brit motorised batt., an armoured regt, a Polish motorised batt. and a batt. of commandos with achiller, M10's, Stuarts and a crocodile The Germans had reinforcements, with 3 panthers & 2 co. of Inf. They also had 2 88's some engineers and a wad of panzerschrek teams to set up with.
From below the allied were attacking right to left. The objectives were a hill with a crossroad, just behind to the hedge in left background and the 2 bridges, all germans dug in around these.

apologies for out of focus shots..forgot the stand.

the Polish attack gath

close range Stuarts, M10's and Achilles finish off the Stug..

the German reinforcements arrive..straight into battle...

the Panthers arrive, but the battle goes in favour of the allies

after some initial success....

it was all too much for 1 of the LFD batt. giving up on the first test...

from here the allied right hook had seen off the Panthers, the german paras defending the crossroad were decimated. With 1 LFD batt. to defend both bridges it was game over. Thanks to all the guys who participated.

..after looking at the first photo the allied attack came from the top right, where their table edge is just visible.
