Re: Longstreet Cacon 2018: Battle 3: 2nd Norfolk.

Only had "Old Rivals" played on me in this game but it was when I tried to charge across the creek and that hurt.

Game 2 at St Louis is when I had "Couldn't Hit an Elephant..." on me.

Re: Lonstreet at Cancon 2018. Battle 1: Norfolk.

There are a couple of quirks in the rules compared to others I have played but once you "forget" those bits it all goes rather well. having played a few games now I think I will be far more cautious with playing some cards and be more likely to hang on to some, accept higher losses and aim for bigge...

Longstreet Cacon 2018: Battle 3: 2nd Norfolk.

With the first battle taking place in 1861, the second in 1862 this third battle would again in 1862. As a side note the year of the battle affects the cards avaliable to you in "Longstreet" which affects what advantages you might get and what troops might be avaliable to you. The 1862 cards still f...

Longstreet Cancon 2018; Battle 2: St Louis.

So despite my loss, the Confederacy won 7 of the 10 battles and so could choose to make 7 attacks on the campaign map, the Union could only make 3. With a slightly reduced army I was sent to attack St Louis and free it from Northern domination. http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn123/twilkodragon69...

Lonstreet at Cancon 2018. Battle 1: Norfolk.

The Longstreet "tournament" was a very relaxed affair. More a pair up, move figures around the table and have fun. There were 20 players evenly split between Union and Confederate and the board game "A House Divided" was used to give the games so wider context. The idea being that each side started ...

Re: CanCon 2018 Any Feedback, Thoghts or Pictures?

As one who was there I can address some of your questions. I am trying to get around to putting up some photos of my games and AARs to go with them but the Sunday night of Cancon I got a call to work for 2 weeks (being a casual high school teacher) starting ASAP for classes that I mostly haven't tau...

Same as last year, plus ...

Play "Longstreet" a few times at least.
Sort out some of my 15mm Ancients for "L'Arte de la Guerre".
Play some games of "Blucher".
Try not to get into anymore periods, scales or rules!

The reinforcements have arrived. So now the mixed Zouave regiment has the 10 stands it needs for the Longstreet rules. http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn123/twilkodragon69/Projects/Painting%20log/2017/November/20171101_233704.jpg The Maryland Guard. http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn123/twilko...

Well the troops are done now and will post them in the Display Cabinet shortly. Pickett is still at the tailor's so that just leaves the gun. So Masters for the carriage. Not quite finished as I need to add some detailing but well on the way. http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn123/twilkodragon69/P...

Well yes, or it could be a 6pdr one. In both cases it would be rifled.

Once I start getting the carriage together you might have more of a hint.

Exotic Southerners for ACW.

I'm back ... finally! Ok so I am going in the "Longstreet" tournament at Cancon next year. Usually I play ACW using "Rank and File" with units usually being 6 stands strong. "Longstreet" however expects infantry to be in units of 10 stands. Now for the normal boys in butternut this is no problem as ...

Battle of Decatur, 2nd Day.

So we return again to the Penrith Wargames Society's ACW campaign. As the Penrith PCYC where we usually meet is being renovated, the game was, finally, held at my own home. The rules being used are "Rank and File". Again the fighting is in the West around Decatur where the Union, about 4 divisions s...
