Re: Longstreet Cacon 2018: Battle 4: 3rd Gettysburg

I think the card needed to specify that it had to be in front of the charging unit if there was space for it to fit. I do think it needs to be there to truly capture the feel of ACW battles which is something I now think Longstreet does very well.

Re: Longstreet Cancon 2018: Battle 6: North of Washington.

The logical part of me is total Union. But there is a part of me that barracks for the Underdog, and having researched some of theose early uniforms I just love some of those Southern units short lived though they were. I will stick with the Longstreet rules as they are simple, relatively fun (blood...

Re: Longstreet Cacon 2018: Battle 4: 3rd Gettysburg

I hate that card if only because on the one time I played it on someonelse they rolled a 1 and I always lost all my cards! Ok so I did use "Pinkerton Intelligence" and "Local Assistance", allowing me to remove a few cards from my opponents hand, as much as possible. The one card ...

Re: Longstreet Cancon 2018: Battle 6: North of Washington.

We didn't have time to do a full wrap up but seeing as how we Rebs had then Union boys on the run until we was fighting outside Washington during an election ... really is a just a passing comment or two as we were packing up. If that had been real most of us agreed that McClellan would have won the...

That is the offeneding hall with the dodgy a/c. You can see one end of it in the shots the other end had all the retailers which at the time the photos were taken was a sea of people bargin hunting. Don't know what happen with the Confederates. They set up and start, we get set up, we start and then...

Longstreet Cancon 2018: Battle 6: North of Washington.

And so it was that with the Northern election of 1864 looming two great Confederate armies would attack the capital. The northern prong would be lead by Steve V, Sean and myself. Our Union opponents would be lead by James, Marly, Dave and Steve K. As we were using a double width table we decided to ...

Longstreet Cancon 2018: Battle 6 (Kinda): South Washington.

This is the big game that I didn't play in. I wasn't able to follow the progress as I was busy and it went very quickly. The Confederates suffering a clear and quick defeat. http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn123/twilkodragon69/Games/American%20Civil%20War/CanCon%202018/20180128_091611.jpg http://...

Only had "Old Rivals" played on me in this game but it was when I tried to charge across the creek and that hurt.

Game 2 at St Louis is when I had "Couldn't Hit an Elephant..." on me.

Re: Lonstreet at Cancon 2018. Battle 1: Norfolk.

There are a couple of quirks in the rules compared to others I have played but once you "forget" those bits it all goes rather well. having played a few games now I think I will be far more cautious with playing some cards and be more likely to hang on to some, accept higher losses and aim...

Longstreet Cacon 2018: Battle 3: 2nd Norfolk.

With the first battle taking place in 1861, the second in 1862 this third battle would again in 1862. As a side note the year of the battle affects the cards avaliable to you in "Longstreet" which affects what advantages you might get and what troops might be avaliable to you. The 1862 car...

Longstreet Cancon 2018; Battle 2: St Louis.

So despite my loss, the Confederacy won 7 of the 10 battles and so could choose to make 7 attacks on the campaign map, the Union could only make 3. With a slightly reduced army I was sent to attack St Louis and free it from Northern domination. http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn123/twilkodragon69...

Lonstreet at Cancon 2018. Battle 1: Norfolk.

The Longstreet "tournament" was a very relaxed affair. More a pair up, move figures around the table and have fun. There were 20 players evenly split between Union and Confederate and the board game "A House Divided" was used to give the games so wider context. The idea being tha...

Same as last year, plus ...

Play "Longstreet" a few times at least.
Sort out some of my 15mm Ancients for "L'Arte de la Guerre".
Play some games of "Blucher".
Try not to get into anymore periods, scales or rules!

Well the troops are done now and will post them in the Display Cabinet shortly. Pickett is still at the tailor's so that just leaves the gun. So Masters for the carriage. Not quite finished as I need to add some detailing but well on the way. http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn123/twilkodragon69/P...
