Re: Little Wars Adelaide 11/7/2015 - Update!

good news Darling, the test came back positive.... sorry, couldn't resist. Excellent news, catching up next week with the club reps to confirm games. The biggie looks like Waterloo in 54mm, 8+ tables in the middle of the venue. Massive game. Plus 6mm ACW and lots of other goodies. looking forward to...

Re: 28mm Australian Infantry Platoon - Pacific

well, they are beautifully painted and based, well done. I have a good unit history of part of the Milne Bay campaign, included in "Purple and Blue, The history of he 2/10th Bn, Adelaide Rifles, 1939-45" and based on that I attempted a Steel Panthers recreation of the battle, alas, it was too ambiti...

Re: 1879 Russian Invasion of South Australia - Skirmish Game

:) I should have spent more time selecting pebbles from under the mighty pear tree in the backyard but they do. Fine to represent rocky outcrops :!: . the adelaide plain is bereft of rocks Pete  and yes, i'd love to give the game a go. (and I have a universal joint that you need to see) stu

great write up and a fascinating set of scenarios Pete.

Obviously fighting around the granitic tors area of the adelaide plains, judging by those boulders the colonials are using as shelter :)

nicely done fanai, love the way you have painted the eyes on the pistoleer in the green surcoat to look sideways down the line of sight of the pistol. Great painting.

Re: "A Bastard of a Place"

more excellent photos, you've done a great job capturing what is a really difficult subject, jungle, jungle and more jungle. I set up a scenario in steel panthers many moons ago, based on Milne Bay, but could never come to play it, it was just too close to home. I feel the same way about Kokoda, som...

Re: Little Wars (Adelaide) Approaches, so do the French Frig

I haven't played it, but it makes good sense. Like Wings of Glory, it overcomes the most difficult issue, that of simultaneous movement. It just looks and feels wrong to have one ship move up alongside another, to have the other ship then move off in its turn. I resolved that by allowing "Fire as Yo...

Lasalle - Intro games

Darling was free last Tuesday and I was on holidays (teacher) so we got the long postponed intro game of Lasalle under our belts. I have played Lasalle maybe half a dozen times but not for a year, so the rules took some time to come back to me. We played 2 games, the first without terrain to get the...

Re: Miniature Worldmaker Australian Company

I've visited the "shop", the work is simply beautiful. The effort that goes into each piece is incredible. The guy (name slips my memory) works from home in Mt Barker and crops up on ebay from time to time as well as his webstore. I invited him to Little Wars 2014 but he declined, stating he didn't ...

Re: Home Made 28mm Scale Trench

Pete, I have a hot-wire cutter that you can use. I made it following the instructions in Silicon Chip, many years ago. It uses a PC power supply, a spring to keep the tension on the cutting wire and is set up to give a cutting throat of about 600mm and height of about 250mm. Cuts expanded polystyren...
