AAR - ACW Skirmish - Sixty-One Sixty-Five Rules

Time for some ACW Skirmish action so Dave and I hit the gaming table with the Sixty-One Sixty-Five rules! It was our first use of them but we've played games from the Song of... series so we were up to speed with these in no time!We played Scenario One from the Rules. A smaller Confederate force wit...

Blucher AAR - The Battle of Alexandria

We were after a game for this fortnight so I visited the ‘oldmeldrumwargamesgroup’ site and seconded one of Ross’s fine scenarios for Blucher,I picked the Battle of Alexandria. I cobbled together a tabletop, using an off white sheet, my river section to represent the coastline, some felt for a lake,...

Re: 1/56 Generic HMG and ATR Weapon

Hey Easy thanks! I’m going to build 1 more ATR and 2 more HMGs they didn’t take long to make and zippo cost. Then may try a Russian wheeled Maxim for the Communist/Union faction, the Soviet advisors may have brought some with them! Will have an AAR up soon featuring these shortly from Monday nights ...

A Genius's New Lair! Doktor Von Hades Discrete Retreat!

January 1877 and Doktor Von Hades was 'feeling the heat' as the forces of good closed in on him! After his aborted LASER deployment he was on the run and Captain Darling was hounding him. He was so harassed by his pursuers that he was finding it difficult to have morning tea on the roof of his Secre...

Troops, Weapons & Tactics AAR - June 1944

Well we revisited TW&T again this fortnight using a scenario I found online. This is the second game of TW&T for our group but I have a couple of extra games up my sleeve. We wanted to really test the rules out. July 1944 an Allied offensive around Caen has splintered the German defences. The Britis...

Hey DB,

I've never seen Open Combat I'll look them up on the weekend, I will use song... for small ACW skirmishes and Smooth and Rifled for larger games.

Re: 3D Printing

Hi, For the price nice. So what scale are these? Look around just over 3cm for a 4.8m tank so 1/144? Those layer lines irk me, see the front plate and sides especially but being a modeller not just a gamer that could be it. Can you set the printer to make more thinner layers (longer print time I sup...

Ironclad Miniatures Heliograph Team

Belgium, June 18 1880... Troubled and flustered Lieutenant Cartwright hollered over the din of gunfire to Captain Darling, "Darling the Marconi Wireless set is on the blink again! How can we summon reinforcements?" Darling replied calmly while engaging in sword play with two rather brutish looking I...

Re: Song of Drums & Shakos AAR - The Supply Train

Thanks Guys!

Cyrus sorry I haven't played Sharps Practice so can't compare them. From what I have read Sharps could let you play a bigger game but one of the reasons I've never tried them for up to about 20 -30 figures a side (which I doubt I'd exceed) Song of Drums is great!

Song of Drums & Shakos AAR - The Supply Train

We trotted out the Song of Drums and Shakos rules and my Perry 1/56 figures for some more Napoleonic skirmishing! A small British supply train escorted by a column led by an Austrian staff Officer and marching in very smart order is ambushed by a force of sneering Frenchies who were not only chain s...
